Easter 2010

EASTER!!!!! I love Easter! Being from the South, you have to embrace the holiday with a little bit of flair and finesse, both of which I've horribly failed at, but the kids did get new outfits, so that's a plus!

We ended up spending most of the weekend at Olivia's house in Clarkston since Todd was working on a project most of the day. He was able to break away for a bit to take the kid's to a few Easter egg hunts--this year was the first not done at our church, EBC, so we braved the elements (hail, snow, and rain) and joined the community in searching for eggs. The first hunt was over before the time it started because someone in the crowd yelled, "Go!" and it was over in 10 minutes. We made it to the VA Hospital Egg Hunt, but had to wait 20 minutes in the freezing cold wind so the kids could get a few eggs. The parents of the children there were horrible--picking up eggs themselves and throwing them in their kids' baskets! I really just wanted to leave but Avery would've lost it, so we stuck it out.

We also arrived to Olivia's to hunt some more in the backyard--by that time the sun had come out a bit, so it wasn't too cold. Zack was so cute in his tiny baseball tie, and Avery agreed and finally wore a dress that we've had over a year--they had dyed Easter eggs too with Olivia, and I narrowly caught Zack eating a yellow dye pellet before he swallowed. No harm done, just a pair of tiny yellow lips.

Easter dinner at Grandma Tweedy's was good too--somehow I always get to just show up and eat! The kid's got more candy and lots of goodies from the Easter Bunnies too--being the only kids around they get spoiled! Avery was excited to wear the fake Princess press-on nails that the Bunny left for her--she soon found they weren't as user-friendly as she thought! It was a great Easter overall, and our "baskets" overflow with blessings!
